WHERE SHOULD I START IN BUILDING A SEARCH ENGINE SITE?
I want to build my own search engine for the internet, but im not sure where to start? Should i have spiders or bots that search world wide web content? do i need a word list that the site will go off of during the search?

My suggestion is that you start with the first web searcher – google for swish and swish-e. They have the original source code for building the index, and they have scripts for doing the searches. Take it from there so you have a solid understanding of the foundation of what you are trying to do.

Start with learning HTML, Javascript, CSS, PHP, SQL and AJAX. Once you’re good at creating websites (about 2-5 years), start studying how searching is done. You’ll have to use spidering (with bots) to fill your database. When a user uses the site he searches your database, not the web.
Saying that you’re in WAY over your head at this point might get me the understatement of the millennium award.
