WHENEVER I PERFORM A SEARCH ON ANY SEARCH ENGINE, WHEN I CLICK ON THE RESULTS LINKS I GET REDIRECTED.?
May 19th
Question by DJ:
Whenever I perform a search on any search engine, when I click on the results links I get redirected.?
The tab will state either “jump” or “redirect” and I end up on a search results page for some obscure search engine I have never heard of, or I might end up at a website that is somewhat relevant to my initial search, or I could end up at a website that has nothing at all to do with what I am looking for. I cannot click the search results link and make it to the correct URL. It is driving me nuts. I have all the current updates and have run Ad-Aware and Norton and have come up with nothing. PLEASE can someone help me???

Q&A: HOW CAN I GET RID OF SOFTONIC SEARCH ENGINE?
May 18th
Question by BrownEyedGirl:
How can I get rid of Softonic search engine?
I’m using a Windows 7 system. The laptop is only a few months old, and when I first got it, my homepage would immediately go to Google upon opening up IE.
Not too long ago, I (foolishly) downloaded software to put a design on my Facebook page. Maybe it’s coincidence, maybe not, but ever since, my IE opens up to a Softonic search engine instead of Google.
I removed what I thought was the software for the design on my Facebook page, and the design itself is gone. But the Softonic search is still there. I have also run my antispyware and antivirus software, and my personal comes back clean. But everything I have tried to remove this Softonic is not working.
I’ve gone to the top right corner of my IE, clicked on “Tools,” and looked for anything ‘Softonic-related’ to disable. Cannot find a thing. Does anyone have any advice on what to do to remove this darn thing?
Thanks!

QUESTION ABOUT DOMAINS AND SEARCH ENGINE RANKINGS?
May 16th
Question by Aspurtaime Dog Sneeze:
Question about domains and search engine rankings?
I am building a website for a realtor. It seems that if the domain contains the search words (e.g “homes” and “Denver” and “realtor” to denverrealtor.com or denverhomes.com) it would rank higher in search engines than those with those words only as metatags.
Is this true? What is the ideal way to get high on the list?

PHP SEARCH SCRIPT LIKE WIKIPEDIA?
May 15th
Question by :
PHP search script like Wikipedia?
Hello.
I know some PHP but this is beyond my capabilities.
I want to build a search engine script with PHP and MYSQL.
For example….
I have a website with a lot of pages each titled with different subjects. If a visitor searches for one of those subjects, it will look for the page with those keywords in it, and redirect to the page that is in the mysql database. Like Wikipedia.
Does anyone know how i could accomplish this? Please help. Thanks.

Yeah, thanks Crash. Makes sense. I changed it back, but I know the dang software is still on my harddrive somewhere. For now, this will have to do.

Q&A: MAKING GOOGLE MY DEFAULT SEARCH ENGINE? PROBLEMS.
May 6th

Question by Hotspot:
Making Google my default search engine? Problems.
I have a wierd, local webpage as my default search engine. When I type in question, it takes me there automatically and is pretty useless for answering anything. I am used to Google, and I tried to find directions on how to make it my defaulted search engine, but even though I foloowed the directions, nothing works. I still keep getting my weird page.
Here are the instructions – I tried both of them, and neither one of them works:
Run regedit from your run menu and find this key :
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main
and find Search Page value and change it to google like this :
“Search Page”=”http://www.google.com”
“Search Bar”=”http://www.google.com/ie”
I do not want a search bar, so I just put in the searcha page value, restarted it, and nothing changed.
Then I tried these directions, but nothing showed up like it stated it would. (at http://www.google.com/options/defaults.html):
Internet Explorer
For Windows: Download this file to make Google the default search engine for World wide web Explorer versions 4.0 – 6.0. (Note: you will need Administrator privileges on your personal in order to install this file.)
The “search” button will bring up a Google search box down the left side of your browser.
The “Search The Web” menu option from the “Go” menu will take you to Google. For IE4 only, you can type “?
When you click on the above link, IE will ask you whether to open or to save the file. Choose “open” to immediately make the changes (i.e., to make Google your default search engine for the actions described above). Choose “save,” and then look at the file under Notepad, if you’d rather analyze what the file does first. Be aware that you will probably have to reboot your system to make the change go into effect (even if your personal does not tell you so).
By default, Google will show results in the search channel window, leaving the main window for browsing. If you like seeing the search results in the main window, try this file instead.
I did, and when it stated RUN, I ran it. Nothing changed.
Help! Thanks.
Thanks but I do not want to make it my homepage, just my default search engine. It is not hijacked, it just happened to be the default that my provider gives you when you subscribe.
But thanks, I will try “cakefruit”‘s instructions. They sound easy enough, if they work
