Question by :
Does building your links not gradual can have a bad effect to your Search Engine Rankings?
Hi Everyone,

I have a website that ranks well before in Search Engine because Im building links gradually (working the same number of links everyday). However, this days Im currently experiencing being banned or Sandboxed by Google as I cant see any rankings to my keywords now. Im now building links only 3 times a week, unlike before that Im building 5 time a week with the same number of links per day. Does it really affects to mu rankings?

——————————————

Answer by Rick Thompson
two key factors: i) Link frequency and ii) link quality

Frequency – if you build links too fast, it can be a warning sign to Google and they might be on the lookout for what you are doing.

Quality – good links are valued by Google, but if you link to questionable sites, like link farms, you could get banned.

——————————————

Answer by Diamondseo
Links pointing to your site is considered a vote by the search engines. The site with the most positive votes wins!

This has changed a bit recently as one-way links are much more important than exchanged links. The ideal way to obtain one way relevant links is:

Directories: Try to find some odd directories that are like your site.

Articles: Write informative articles and have them distributed. The more sites print your article online, the more links it will generate.

Press Releases: Press Releases, if submitted to the right press release directory, will create high quality inbound links for your site.

——————————————

Answer by Howard L
I think you are asking how do I create HTML links (hypertext markup language links). It’s actually rather simple. All you need to do is put a few easy commands inside of brackets <>. There are many tutorials, Google HTML. Here is a start.

And you can get in search engines (or get indexed) by submitting your site to Google and others or just by getting a link from a site that is indexed. Once the search engine crawls that other site, they will follow the link to your site and index it, unless you have blocked it from being crawled.

I need a script that will grant me to upload files, and while uploading automatically add a link to the file on a web page. How could I do this. Not a directory folder though, an actual page something that would function similarly to a search engine with no search.

——————————————

Answer by Ben Z
<?php
// This script reads a directory of files. After reading the directory specified it outputs the directory files.
// Upon output, supplied functions manipulate each filename and format it to make the output filename look better.
// e.g.: instead of output being 'my-good-looking-file.txt' it would look like 'My Good Looking File'.

// In order for the output to look better, you must put a hyphen (-) or an underscore (_) between each
// word that you want to be separated.

// function to strip off the file extension
function strip_ext($ name) {
$ ext = strrchr($ name, '.');
if($ ext !== false) {
$ name = substr($ name, 0, -strlen($ ext));
}
return $ name;
}
// function to remove the hyphen or underscore from filename.
function removeHyphen($ filename) {
$ target = $ filename;
$ patterns[0] = '/-/';
$ patterns[1] = '/_/';
$ replacements[0] = ' ';
$ replacements[1] = ' ';
$ filename = preg_replace($ patterns, $ replacements, $ target);
return $ filename;
}
// function to capatalize the first character of each word. Must be called after
// the removal of the hyphen or underscore
function capFirstWord($ word) {
$ cap = $ word;
$ cap = explode(' ', $ cap);
foreach($ cap as $ key => $ value) {
$ cap[$ key] = ucfirst($ cap[$ key]);
}
$ word = implode(‘ ‘, $ cap);
return $ word;
}
// Formats the file. This is the main function that calls all functions explained above.
function formatFile($ name) {
$ name = strip_ext($ name);
$ name = removeHyphen($ name);
$ name = capFirstWord($ name);
return $ name;
}
// Sets up the directory you would like to use as the “reading” directory.
$ mydir = dir(‘./mp3 files’);
while(($ file = $ mydir->read()) !== false) {
// Security – remove “.” and “..” files (directories)
if ($ file != “.” && $ file != “..”) {
// Output. This is what is actually outputed by the script and that shows
// up on the screen (browser).
echo “

“.formatFile($ file).”

“;
}
}
$ mydir->close();

?>

Whenever I do a Yahoo or Google search, a new window pops up taking me to some other random search engine. I have run a virus scan and numerous spyware scans, but nothing has fixed the problem. I have tried switching from World wide web Explorer to Mozilla Firefox, the problem exists there as well. What can be done to fix this problem?

Answer by Dan
There is a virus going around that changes the results, that is the most likely cause… try using a different scanner to search for viruses and see if anything comes up.
