Also what is the ideal way to get my keywords across to search engines, is there such a way to link keywords so that search engines pick them up for the type of websites that I have? I have about 30 sites all in the same field.

To get search results in a search engine for your sites, you must add keywords to your page source. Prefferably using HTML, you can do this by adding what’s called Meta Tags, which include keywords that describe the features of your site or “sites” on what they are about, and what is on them. Say if your site is about graphics, you would put the keywords, seperated by commas, such as, “graphics, graphic design, art, digital, digital art”, etc.

The tags, title tag especially are important, but you need good content on your pages to get links. You can get links form some directories by submitting your site to them. But the best way to get links is by producing content that people are looking for.
If you just link together many sites, and none of those sites have good content, or they all have the same content, the search engines will not value your sites highly and they won’t rank well.
I would focus on the keywords that you want to rank highly for and produce exciting content about those areas. That will help you rank highly for those keywords.
The search engines are pretty good at identifying sites that are trying to “game” them by some means of trickery. And they will punish those sites when it comes to ranking them.

Personally, I think your idea sounds really, really bad. Not only the ‘adding websites to search engines’ (which I think you mean submitting your site to search engines), but linking them all together. Even if your websites are highly-related, it would look a bit fishy to have 30 websites, likely all with the same class-c ip address & other identifying info, to be linked together like a small-scale link farm.
This is candid advice, but I’m telling you — you are not going to like the results you get with your proposed line of action.
If you want some free advice, without any strings, contact me at my website — by what you’ve written… you are on the completely wrong track, and listening to suggestions on how to add meta tags to your site are only going to make things worse for you.
