How long does it take to create an advanced website? (search engine or networking site)?
I have an astonishing idea for a website but I only know basic web design. When it comes to developing something more advanced like facebook, how long do you think it will take and what resources do you think I will need?

for the above response… CMS is the site itself, that has no programming involved… just template switching and designs…
if you want to truly program a whole site and ur alone in this, have fun, if u work 4 to 5 hours a day, each day, it may take up to a month maybe more, if u actually know what ur doing, a week or two maybe…

Basic in web design won’t cut it, You need to the web programming knowledge. By the way networking sites don’t have one person they have many people, the maintenance is a huge undertaking. Not to say you can’t do it yourself but to get the layout, graphics, and programming together can take up to 6 months. You want to make sure you put it through testing before just launching it, you know so no bugs show up.
These things don’ t happen overnight.
Do some research on those companies!
